Drunk driving crash kills parents, leaves three little girls seriously injured

On Behalf of | Jan 11, 2021 | Personal Injury |

If you drive southeast of Pasadena on SR 110 to Santa Ana, you will arrive in Santa Ana. This is where a California woman with a history of drunk driving is accused of running a red light and crashing into a family’s vehicle.

The young parents – 28 and 27 years old – were killed in the violent collision. Their three daughters – just 5, 4 and 1 year old – were all seriously injured in the motor vehicle crash.

More than double the legal limit

The blood-alcohol content of the 22-year-old Newport Beach woman was reportedly measured at 0.2 percent after the crash – or two and a half times the legal limit. According to a news report, she tried to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away.

The sister of the man killed in the crash is now the temporary legal guardian of the three little girls. She said the eldest girl suffered two broken legs and a broken arm in the wreck, while the 4-year-old has a broken leg and a head injury. The youngest girl suffered a broken ankle.

The costs of tragedy

According to a news report, family members created a GoFundMe page to raise money to help cover the costs of the girls’ medical expenses, as well as for their parents’ funeral and to help with the expenses involved in raising three young kids.

In tragic circumstances like this, it’s common that personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits are filed in order to hold accountable the person responsible for the devastation. Nothing can undo these kinds of terrible events. Still, an attorney experienced in these matters can help to ensure the victims receive full, fair compensation for present and future medical expenses, as well as the loss of the parents’ incomes and the loss of their companionship and support.
